Gifts to The Joshua Sweers '07 Scholarship contribute to...
Georgeann Ricketts wants her son's love of education to carry on to future Kettering University students. Her son, Josh Sweers graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2007. Josh died in a plane crash in May 2020 with three former Kettering University students and fellow Phi Gamma Delta fraternity brothers, Daniel Shedd, John Camilleri and Daniel Schlosser.
During his time at Kettering University, Josh Sweers served as the Phi Gamma Delta rush chairman in 2006 and president in 2007. He had two photos and a poem published in the University's literary publication, The Muse, and hosted an hour-long radio show on Kettering's 94.3 WKUF five days a week. The scholarship created in Josh's memory will be available to future electrical engineering students.
Scholarships provide nearly two million dollars in student assistance each year at Kettering, and this award will help to increase the support available. Josh will always be remembered for his thirst for continued knowledge, for being patient and understanding, and for always having a spirit for adventure.
